These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Prova mobile application and related websites (collectively, the "Service"). "We", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of Prova, identified in our Privacy Policy.
By downloading, installing, or using Prova, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Prova is an informational tool that helps you explore publicly available food-product data — including ingredients, nutrients, additives, allergens, and algorithmic grades — by scanning barcodes or, when you choose, photographing product labels.
Prova is not medical, dietary, nutritional, legal, or professional advice. It is not a substitute for reading the physical product packaging, consulting a qualified healthcare professional, or exercising your own judgment about what to buy or consume.
You are responsible for your decisions. Any action you take based on information shown in Prova — including avoiding, buying, or consuming a product — is taken at your own risk.
Most product records come from third-party open databases, principally Open Food Facts ↗, and from label photographs you or other contributors submit. We do not manufacture, sell, or control the products shown, and we do not control those third-party sources.
Information in Prova may be incomplete, outdated, mistranslated, or wrong — including product names, ingredients, allergen declarations, nutrition values, images, and categories. We do not guarantee that any record is complete, current, or accurate.
Always verify against the physical label before relying on any detail, especially if you have a food allergy, intolerance, celiac disease, diabetes, or any other condition where incorrect information could cause harm.
Nutri-Score grades, NOVA processing groups, additive flags, profile alerts, healthier-alternative suggestions, and AI-generated verdict summaries are algorithmic estimates derived from the data available at the time of lookup. They:
Strong wording such as "watch out", "caution", or "best avoided" expresses an automated assessment of available nutrient and ingredient data — not a statement of fact about a brand's intent, safety for every person, or legal compliance.
Product names, brand names, logos, and packaging shown in Prova are the property of their respective owners. We use them only as necessary to identify the product you scanned or searched for — a form of nominative reference permitted under trademark law when the product cannot reasonably be identified otherwise.
Prova is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any food brand, manufacturer, or retailer. Display of a product or grade does not imply any relationship with its owner. If you are a rights holder and believe content in Prova misuses your mark, contact us at info@provascan.com and we will review promptly.
Prova cannot guarantee detection of every allergen, contaminant, or substance that may affect you. Additive and allergen summaries are informational context drawn from published databases and regulatory references; they are not medical advice and may omit or misstate risks.
The Service is not intended as a management or monitoring tool for users with medical conditions. Never use Prova as your sole source for allergen or ingredient decisions.
When you use Identify with photos, images you submit are processed by automated systems (including Google Gemini) to extract structured product fields. Results may include misread text, wrong product matching, missing allergens, or incorrect nutrition values.
You must verify every extracted result against the physical label before relying on it. Do not photograph labels you do not have the right to share, and do not submit misleading or fraudulent images.

We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or misused the Service.
When you submit label photos, corrections, or other content ("User Content"), you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, reproduce, modify, and display that content for operating and improving the Service — including caching extracted product data so others can look up the same barcode.
You represent that you have the rights to submit User Content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law. You remain responsible for what you submit.
Certain features may be offered through a paid subscription processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Prices, billing periods, and renewal terms are shown in the store checkout flow. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your store account before the renewal date.
Refunds are handled under the store's policies. Barcode scanning and core product information remain free as described in the app; paid features are additive only.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT USE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
We do not warrant that any product grade, summary, or recommendation is correct, complete, or suitable for you or any third party.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE AND OUR DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) EUR 10 (OR USD 10 IF YOU ARE IN THE UNITED STATES).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us and our personnel from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights — including claims by product manufacturers or other users related to how you use or represent information obtained from Prova.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If you access or use the Service from the United States, the following additional terms apply to you, without limiting any rights you may have under applicable U.S. federal or state law that cannot be waived by contract:
Prova is a general information tool. It is not a medical device, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and has not been evaluated or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Nutrient values, ingredient lists, grades, and AI summaries are not substitutes for reading the product label or consulting a qualified healthcare provider.
Nothing in the Service constitutes an endorsement by any U.S. federal or state agency. Product and brand names are used only to identify items you look up; Prova is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer or retailer.
We strive to present product information accurately and to distinguish algorithmic estimates from factual label data. We do not make unsubstantiated health claims about specific products or brands. If you believe content in the Service is false or misleading, contact us at info@provascan.com.
Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your U.S. state of residence or under applicable U.S. federal law, including rights available to California, New York, and other state residents under their respective consumer-protection statutes.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AND WE AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. If a court finds this waiver unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) must be severed and litigated individually.
Before filing a claim in court, you agree to email info@provascan.com with a brief description of the dispute and your contact details. We will try to resolve the matter informally within 30 days.
European Union / EEA / United Kingdom: These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, EEA, or United Kingdom, you also benefit from any mandatory protections of the laws of your country of residence. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Athens, Greece, except where EU or UK consumer law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your home country.
United States: For users in the United States, these Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, except that (i) mandatory U.S. federal and state consumer-protection laws that cannot be waived by contract continue to apply, and (ii) for claims that must be brought in a U.S. court under non-waivable law, the state or federal courts located in the county or district of your residence have jurisdiction.
Other countries: If you use the Service from outside the EU/EEA, UK, or United States, Greek law governs these Terms to the extent permitted by the mandatory laws of your place of residence.
